Nantahala Duckies
If you’re a confident paddler and want to take on the Nantahala in a smaller boat, the inflatable kayak or “ducky” trip is for you. More stable than a traditional kayak, a ducky allows you to get up close and experience the Nantahala’s class I, II and III rapids more intimately than in a raft. For inflatable kayaks we recommend you consider renting a wetsuit because you’ll get very wet! New this summer! By special arrangement we offer guided ducky trips that allow you the experience of getting to captain your own boat, but with an experienced leader.

Should I Choose A Guided or Unguided Nantahala Rafting Trip?
You have the choice of a fully guided trip with a guide in each raft or renting equipment and paddling on your own. If you are new to rafting, a guided trip will provide you with instruction in both safety and paddling technique, and your professional guide captains your raft. If you are more experienced, an unguided trip in either rafts or inflatable kayaks will allow you to go at your own pace, with just your friends and family. You get to captain your own craft. With special arrangements we offer guided inflatable kayak trips!
Nantahala River: Dam-Controlled Means Consistent Water!
Since the Nantahala River is a dam-controlled river, you can expect consistently fun water flows all season long. Nantahala River rafting happens daily all season, no matter how hot the summer is or how little rain might choose to fall! Rest confident that you can make your plans months in advance. The water at the dam is released from the bottom of Nantahala lake so it is a chilly 50 degrees year round!
