Wildwater is always striving to be the best company we can be. As a company, we believe in being close to our communities that surround our locations and the people in them. But we also stretch out to larger communities and organizations. Wildwater has given back to organizations like Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Autism Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Green Day.
Every year on the Ocoee River, on a special day, a specific time slot is selected and reserved for breast cancer awareness fund raising. All reservations booked on those trip times helps in the community of breast cancer fundraising. This year, August 31st at two p.m., Wildwater held the 7th Annual Raft for the Cure and a portion of the revenue went to Susan G. Komen of Chattanooga. Wildwater is proud to say that $4,100 was raised for this crucial cause during our 2013 event.
The 2nd Annual Wells Fargo Zipping for Autism, hosted by Asheville Zipline Canopy Adventures, was able to raise $39,074 to the Autism Society of NC. We were proud that Asheville Zipline Canopy Adventures helps to further the research for the neurodevelopment disorder that shows in early childhood.
Wildwater continued to support Swain County Big Brothers Big Sisters in our 2nd annual event, Raft for Kids’ Sake! Both Lee, Wildwater Nantahala team member and his wife Carolyn Allison have been “Bigs” for over 6 years, and they have seen the difference that spending time with their “Little” has made. A portion of the day’s rafting proceeds were donated to continue this worthy program. Wildwater was able to donate $1,115.75 this year. A large majority of children who have a mentor through this notable program do better on school work and behave more appropriately in the classroom. This program also helps with children’s self-confidence, improved relationships with family members, friends, and other adults.
As an outdoor adventure company, environmental awareness is a given for Wildwater. We encouraged our past and potential Guests to join us on Black Friday for a rather…Green Friday. At our Nantahala, Asheville and Chattooga Zipline Canopy locations we donated $2,317.45 that day to several environmental organizations and causes including Trees Greenville, Asheville GreenWorks and the Arbor Source Hemlock Treatment and Conservation program.
Anne Frank once said that no one has ever become poor from giving. Even in these tough economic times, Wildwater is proud to be able to give what we can. Wildwater looks forward to many prosperous years in business and having the ability to give back.
