The Chattooga River, the Crown Jewel of Southern Whitewater Rivers

Goose1 (3)Picture yourself on one of the wildest and most beautiful whitewater rivers in the country.  The Chattooga River, also know as the Crown Jewel of Southeastern whitewater, was the first river in the Southeast to be designated “Wild and Scenic” by Congress in 1974.  Less than 1/4 of 1% of our rivers are protected under the National Wild & Scenic Rivers System, and less than 1/3 of 1% of the US population have rafted the Chattooga River!

A local resident recently told us “The Chattooga Section IV launch site is only a 45 minute drive from my house; what a beautiful and enchanting place – I had no idea…”.  He has already reserved a trip to bring back more of his family.

National Geographic named the Chattooga River “one of six must-do raft trips!”  Southern Living said rafting the Chattooga is “the number one thing southerners must do.”  There are river sections for all ages and experience, but the Wildwater Team will tell you that the Chattooga Overnighter is the best river trip in the Southeast, and one that our Guests should not miss.  Two full days of rafting (Section III and Section IV), one night camping, two river lunches, dinner and a hot breakfast – the ultimate Chattooga experience.

Join us this summer for the trip of a lifetime in a very special place that few have experienced!  If you only have one day, raft either Section to visit a rare and special river.
