We often get asked “what is the difference between Wildwater and the other companies?”. A good question; we all raft the same sections of the river, we all have a similar safety record and our equipment is comparable. We believe our Team is the difference and they distinguish Wildwater from the other companies.
Kathleen English from Alabama says: “My family and I were fortunate enough to get Andy as our guide for our rafting trip on the Ocoee last week, and it was amazing. He clearly has the respect of the other guides on the river from all outfits, and for good reason. We learned so much about the river and the area’s history while getting a superb and exciting rafting experience. I hope we will be able to return for more river trips, and we will definitely request Andy to be our guide when we do. You have a real jewel with him.”
Andy Wick – Trip Leader and Ocoee Team Member since 2000. Andy was introduced to whitewater and the Ocoee in 1985 on a high school adventure class trip. Andy’s attention to detail, his work ethic and embracing of the “Wildwater Way” soon led to his current position with Wildwater Ocoee as a Trip Leader.
Andy’s love of the river, his quality people skills, and humor have endured him to be the recipient of many positive Guest comments and a frequently requested guide. Andy splits his calendar year between the Ocoee and Steamboat Springs, Colorado where he is a member of Steamboat’s Ski Patrol. Andy has refurbished a 1995 Airstream camper that he pulls cross-country in his WVO (waste vegetable oil) fueled Ford F-350. When asked what he enjoys the most about his profession as a river guide, Andy quickly replied, “the people – both our Guests and those I work with.”
