Meet Chattooga Team Members Hunter & Amy!

We have many great Team Members.  We recently sat down with our Chattooga River Manager, Hunter Hamm, and our Chattooga Canopy Manager, Amy Bolton, to see what brought them to Wildwater, what challenges they face daily and what they enjoy to do in their spare time.  Also, find out their 5 MUST have items if stranded on a desert island!!

-How long have you worked for Wildwater/in the outdoor industry?
5 years

-How did you get started?
Rafting on the Nantahala River as a summer job

-What’s the most challenging part of your job?
Finding a good balance to ensure that at the end of the day every guest and guide walk away satisfied.

-What do you think people walk away with after they’ve experienced their tour with Wildwater?
Hopefully after a tour, our Guests walk away with a greater appreciation for this area and the outdoors in general.  I also hope they enjoyed the river and were provided a beautiful and fun trip.

-What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is sharing my passion and knowledge of the Chattooga River and the surrounding area with Guests.  I love bringing people into the outdoors and having a good time!

-What do you enjoy in your free time?
Whitewater kayaking, riding my motorcycle

-You’re stranded on a desert island, what 5 things MUST you have with you?
FOOD!
Water!!
PFD (b/c I hate swimming without it)
Sunglasses
Sunscreen

-How long have you worked for Wildwater/in the outdoor industry?
6 years

-How did you get started?
Looking to change careers for a bit, something active and healthy- ended up changing careers permanently after a few weeks being here at Wildwater.

-What’s the most challenging part of your job?
I have to be ready to answer any question on the fly; be fluid to quickly adapt to changes in agendas and challenges.

-What do you think people walk away with after they’ve experienced their tour with Wildwater?
Great memories, definitely!  I see a lot of Guests walk away with a new level of confidence and pride; they’ve conquered a certain fear or trepidation.

-What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
Being a part of  the Guests’ experience & meeting tons of new people every day.  My involvement with Guests goals and watching them overcome fears and trepidations.  Listening to them giggle and talk about their day with us.

-What do you enjoy in your free time?
Having dinner with family and friends, watching movies in the night time air.  Generally just hanging out and recouping!
