Rafting + Kids = Fun, August 3rd!

This year Wildwater continues to support the Swain County Big Brothers Big Sisters in our 2nd annual event, Raft for Kids’ Sake! Both Lee and Carolyn Allison, Wildwater Nantahala team members, have been “Bigs” for over 6 years, and they have seen the difference that spending time with their “Little” has made. A portion of the day’s rafting proceeds will be donated to continue this worthy program.

Over 30 matches in Swain County have been made through Big Brothers/Big Sisters. The school system, which endorses this program, has found that 68% of the kids who have a mentor through Big Brothers/Big Sisters receive better grades, do homework more often and behave better in class. Additionally, 81% of the children have improved self-confidence, and 76% have improved relationships with their parents, peers and other adults.

How many more connections can we make this year with your help?
