River Olympiad
These activities are designed to add excitement, team challenge and additional fun to your rafting experience with Wildwater Ltd. We’ve based these activities on many requests from groups like yours looking for new and unique challenges and programs for their groups. Wildwater has facilitated this program for corporate groups, sales teams, family reunions and incentive travel groups. Your group can vary some on the activities, but most use our standard Olympiad activities. The program is typically a custom-designed experience geared towards the group’s goal and budget.
Teams: A team can be a single raft (around 5-7 people) or a group of rafts.
Goal: Each team’s goal is to acquire the most points possible during the river trip. Awards are usually given for top points. We can also create awards for other categories such as most creative run though a judged rapid, most “off course,” wettest run, driest run, most likely not to be raft guides and so on.
Points Challenges: Each team is assigned a color. That color represents the flags and objects they must capture or protect along the river. Objects include flags (to capture), markers (to steal or protect), targets (to shoot), and any customized targets that groups may select that creates a personal representation, inside joke, or fun additions to the game. These targets could include pictures of employees/owners/leaders/competitors faces, the business name, a seasonal holiday theme such as Halloween or July 4th.
Equipment: Besides the standard rafting safety gear, each raft will receive a water cannon (or 2), instructional packets, and any additional tools needed to accomplish designated tasks.
Additional Challenges (optional upon request): For an added challenge, each team can gain bonus points, extra helpful instructions, extra tools, and so on by stopping at task stations along the river. After successfully completing the tasks at the stations, the group will be awarded the task bonus item or points.
Final Race: We traditionally complete the trip with a “Dash to the Finish” race which includes rafting through some of the larger rapids of the day.
Cost: The the River Olympiad runs $66 per person which includes the River Olympiad team building program and a fully guided rafting trip. Group size must be at least 15 people and discounts may be available for larger groups. Gratuity is not included.
